In January 1942, our company was founded to export Japanese books and magazines, records, shogi (Japanese chess) and other entertainment items, chopsticks, bowls, and other uniquely Japanese sundries to the many Japanese living abroad due to immigration and long-term residence. In 1950, the company also began an import business in response to requests from educational institutions and libraries in Japan. Since then, we have steadily progressed as a unique company whose mission is to spread traditional Japanese culture to the world and to spread foreign culture to Japan. On April 1, 2008, we established a new management philosophy with the participation of all employees. With this philosophy as our watchword, we will pursue the material and intellectual well-being of people around the world and contribute to the development of humanity and society as our mission, and our employees and management team will work as one to advance our business.
