News release Oct 30 2006 Report from the 58th Frankfurt Book Fair
Report from the 58th Frankfurt Book Fair

This year, the Frankfurt Book Fair had its 58th show. We, Japan Publications Trading, have been an exhibitor at the fair ever since the 7th show of 1955. This means we have been exhibiting at 50 straight shows.
This year, once again, we had a joint exhibition with Ondorisha (http://www.ondori.co.jp/), one of Japan’s largest publishers specializing in handcrafts. As in last year, countless visitors came to our booth and our exhibition was very successful.
One reason for this success was that today there is almost no other exhibitor publishing English-language books on Japanese culture in the sixth hall, the place for Japanese exhibitors. This scarcity has been making our booth more and more important year by year. Another reason is that our booth carries high-quality books on handcrafts published by Ondorisha.
Today, we have released more than 150 titles of English-language books to the whole world and are publishing 12 to 13 new titles each year. And we are distributing those books, published by ourselves, to the world. We are thus determined to contribute to spread of Japan’s culture for many years to come.
Moreover, we will continue to spread “Japan” not just through books but through many other items of the culture as well, taking advantage of the know-how we have learned through our many years of experiences as a distributor.
